I recently retouched a child photo of my fiancee for my future mother in law, the results are below:

Thanks for the reply.
I adjusted the levels on the picture to sort out the colour. To sort out the damaged areas on the image, I used a combination of the clone, spot removal tool and the paintbrush (painting over the area and adjusting the opacity and blending model).
